The Lewis Library - Princeton University

Princeton University has undertaken the construction of a new science library, which has been designed by world-renown architect Frank O. Gehry. The Peter Lewis Library is located at the corner of Ivy Lane and Washington Road. Gehry is known for his design of the Guggenheim museum in Bilbao, Spain, the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, and many other unique buildings.

Construction of the 87,000-square-foot facility began in 2005 and is expected to be completed in the fall of 2007.

The architect's distinctive style — which is characterized by organic, non-rectangular shapes often finished in titanium and glass — creates unusual curving walls and roof lines that present a challenge for building maintenance. Safety Systems was selected by the design and construction team to design, supply and install the roof fall protection systems because of its experience in difficult and challenging installations.
